“buy local, buy handmade … a weekend full of fine crafts, arts, food & music”
Despite the cold, wet and windy weather, we had a very successful three days, with both local shoppers and visitors turning out to make a dent in their Christmas shopping list. As well as some of our regular stallholders, we were delighted to have 7 new faces this year and the variety and number of stalls guaranteed there was something that appealed to everyone, whatever budget and taste.
… and where better to buy Christmas gifts with a difference or even commission something directly from some of the best designers/makers in the North Pennines, including ceramics, pottery, glassware, paintings, jewellery, ironware, wood, knitwear, textiles … plus local food and drink producers.
The weekend as always was laid back, had a lively and vibrant atmosphere, full of colour, excellent design and style. Alston’s Moody Baker served delicious savouries and sweet delights in the Chaos Café to tempt the taste buds and catch up with old friends. Some of our very talented local musicians provided live music throughout the weekend.
What a better way to get in the Christmas spirit !
Alston Moor Crafts is a non-profit making community group formed to cultivate and promote high quality produce in Alston Moor and the surrounding area. Their principle activity is to organise and run the Christmas Craft Fair which is held at Alston’s Town Hall, which is done by a small group of local people, who do this on a voluntary basis to ensure the Christmas Craft Fair, which has been running since 1992 continues.
